Student engagement in a class is what defines the overall quality of the class. Curiosity, Interest, Optimism, and Passion that students show while being in class is very important.Since the traditional teaching methods doesn’t really ensure student engagement. Teachers need to make their classes interesting so as to ensure the student engagement. Today lets discuss about some of the proven strategies of effective teaching. To improve student engagement, motivation and attainment.
1.Project based teaching
Project based learning is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an authentic, engaging, and complex question, problem, or challenge. Teachers can create comprehensive and research based projects and students are required to work in it.The project is aimed to solve a meaningful problem.Students need to ask questions, find resources and apply the collected information to solve the problem.Since the projects features real world scenarios,tools students become experienced and capable to solve real world challenges and problems.

Incorporating technology in the classroom is a great way to actively engage students. Especially as digital media surrounds young people in the 21st century. smartphones and laptops are all strategic learning tools which implemented correctly will help prepare students for their future careers.When mobile technology is readily available and performing correctly in the classroom, students are able to access the most up-to-date information quicker and easier than ever before.
3.Crossover Learning
Classrooms are not the only place to learn. Learning from real life and in informal settings are a crucial part of learning too. An effective method is for a teacher to propose and discuss a question in the classroom, then for learners to explore that question on a museum visit or field trip, collecting photos or notes as evidence, then share their findings back in the class to produce individual or group answers. Crossover learning helps students to tackle real world problems and helps them to be a lifelong learner.
4.Inquiry based learning
Inquiry based learning is one of the most effective learning strategy in the classroom.it prioritizes student questions, ideas. Inquiry based learning encourage students to ask questions and then teachers make them capable to answer those questions by themselves. The inquiry based learning activities consists of case studies,group projects,research projects,field work,unique exercises tailored to students etc. It allows students to pose the questions and research and convert the information into useful knowledge. Thus ramping up the level of student engagement.
5.Learning from students
Learning from the students is always a good strategy to teach them better. By making spaces for student voices you are getting insights for better teaching. It will deepen and refine the teaching practices. Since it encourage to speak out, students may give more honest feedback about classes.This will helps teachers to find out what their students wanted and helps to improve their teaching methods.
